Cut your hair.

I do not know why, but this seems so appropriate to say. My Great-Grandmother used to say that we harbor our fears in our hair. Everything that we thought we would be, settles in our roots, our hair.

She kept hers short, although her girls’ hair was long. I did not understand what she meant until the day I cut mine. I went from this:

And the weight that was lifted simply cannot be described. I also had to let some other stuff go.

I love this, it is so heartbreaking to read, though.
