Hello Jason. I too, believe in the importance of guidance with writing. We can all use a bit of a hand with our works from time to time, and like you said, “constructive criticism.” I also would balk at that thought of someone coming at me talking at me out of the side of their neck about my work, rather than speaking to me regarding what they think may or may not work.
I write what I feel mostly. I am of the mind-set that most writing in this category, probably should not be touched as the writer is pouring his or her heart out. But, if it is fictional, in story form, or a piece that I am solely experimenting with, I say bring it on. I want to grow. I would hope that we all want that as Writers, as sharers of our words. With you, though… From what I have read. You seem to choose your words carefully, nothing is out of place. You say what needs to be said in your work and you do not pussyfoot around with the content. I appreciate that in a Writer.
I think Medium is a space where we can grow and become better at our craft. I have no doubt about that.
