I do not want your positive if it is not honest, so, I am grateful you responded, Reginald. If I depended on followers when I first began, I would have left a long time ago. That was not my aim. I wrote short stories here only to begin with and I was not looking to be anything more than a blip on the radar. When I noticed the change in Medium is when I began posting my poetry.
Writers that were here months before me began recognizing my work, mentioning me, and the numbers began to increase. Now, I avoid the followers count. I have to. I do not look at Stats, I do not do emails from Medium, etc. My sole purpose of being here is to build community and share my heart through my work. If it inspires someone, anyone, to this day, I am thankful.
I know what it means to pour your heart into something and have it ignored. It is the life of a Writer. It is also why I do the collaborations, especially with the younger ones of Medium. Many of them felt voiceless at first. I have watched them gain confidence in their work, patience, and embrace the ability to interact with others.
Stick around and give it time. I tell everyone this. Those who I have told, gave it time, and they are noticed a lot more than they were once before. The determining factor will be just how patient you are. Peace, Reginald. Again, thank you.
