I never followed the pub — oddly enough, I have read articles by writers who contribute there. I am interested in knowing the Editor’s take on this — why?! I am already faced with not being able to submit my work to a ton of publications (not on Medium, thankfully, but the year is still young and the new year may show some other true colors); I mean, the “triple threat” to a lot of people seems to be my combination: Black, woman, and bisexual. When you’re in my skin, you know the places to “steer clear of.” I keep my Medium publications list to a minimum for submissions; those I do submit my work to, I feel that I am welcome, that I can, and if any editing is needed, they follow through on helping me with that.

If you’re going to reject someone on a writing platform, at least get to know their content, study it. This is a writing platform, a place where we’ve grown and come together to share what we love, what we NEED to share. To blatantly cast out someone based on their content written elsewhere and to categorize it as not what your audience appreciates or regularly reads is hurtful — it doesn’t matter what you’re labeling it, that shit hurts. Yeah, I won’t be reading anything coming through from there anymore.
