Must we have 10, because I have 3 big whoppers that I am sure will act as repellant on most days when denying myself to feel accepted by others…

  1. I will sit with my own pain, push it aside, and even ignore it, to take on, handle, be with the pain of others — in sum, it lifts their spirits and drains me.
  2. I often shun most compliments because I am still uncomfortable receiving them, especially if I am complimented in front of others — I do not want others around me jealous/envious/sad/hurt by not receiving the same.
  3. The backburner method: anything that I want to do, love doing, need to do, I will place on the backburner if it does not gel well/sit with/or accompany something a loved one wants to do around the same time. I make their priorities first, often denying my desires.

Truth be known, daily, I am working on these three, it’s hard as hell, but it’s worth it to work on them.

Great post, Jess!
