Okay, there was a lot of backspacing to this. A LOT.
I am trying to process this. Was this 1 review only?
Or was this a batch of reviews totaling an average of 2 stars and the main thing was what the person said that jumped out at you?
If I tell you the number of “bad reviews” I have gotten on plenty of written work and even two published books, you’d pass out.
People write what is their opinion. Some may not even be reviewing the work for its content, they may just be doing it to simply throw up a review. I honestly hope you felt it deep down in your spirit to remove your work as well. I would hope this one bad review (as I am thinking now, it must be just one) did not shake you to your core like that, b/c baby, a lot are on the way. That’s the risk you take putting your work out there. It’s also the risk you take sending your baby out to sea of opinions.
A few things: Install Grammarly on your computer. It is not available via mobile just yet, so via the computer/Mac, etc is your best option. Always write with easy access to a dictionary, thesaurus, and some type of source that will allow you to check dates, times, locations, etc if you’re writing on a specific location and place in time. You are worried about paying someone to edit on a budget, edit yourself while you can. PROOFREAD, PROOFREAD, PROOFREAD. When you are able, when there is not much pressure resting on your shoulders, and before you publish another book, have someone competent that you trust edit your work.
Don’t let that one bad review shake you.
