A Collaborative Effort with Noha Medhat
You threw a few puzzles at me —
Courageous in your efforts
To get me to walk the straightest line,
But, I am not designed to keep
Up with timed requests that have
Lost their luster.
You are a fool
Flitting in listless air
Circling overhead, wasting away
Who better to kick
A bad habit
Than a past love?
Who better to use the last drop of you
Then throw you away?
A caramelized day,
The day you waltzed into my life,
Demands and checklists in hand,
The promise of a promised land,
But your golden brown sweetness
Soon fluttered astray.
You’re scared to fall,
Even more scared to fly,
Wander high above you
And your tightened dreams,
Wouldn’t it be nice
To blissfully soar with me?
Wouldn’t it be heavenly
To love like you breathe, effortlessly?
You give the question some thought,
Then move in closely to me,
Whispering how good it would be
To continue our walk…
On a tightrope —
Unsure of where we’re
